Holy Trinity Photo

Frances Davis

Trevor Davis Family

Frances Davis (1855-1932, born Frances Carolyn Brooks in London), a well-known Alaskan artist, created several paintings for Holy Trinity. The six larger paintings of biblical images were located near the altar and were done in 1910. The paintings were being restored in 2006 when the church building was destroyed by fire. They are currently on display in the church sanctuary

She came to Juneau in August 1891 and married J. Montgomery Davis, a bookkeeper for the Nowell Mining Company, the following year. Her son, Trevor, was a well-known Juneau photographer; his photos can be found in our archives and the collections at the Alaska Historical Library.
